How to Uninstall Canon Printers

A Canon printer is external hardware that must be installed on a computer in order for you to print with it. If you upgrade to another printer, then you no longer need your old printer taking up disk space on your hard drive. Fortunately, you can uninstall Canon printers with relative ease because you do not need a CD-ROM.

Instructions

    • 1

      Click “Start > My Computer.”

    • 2

Click “Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.”

    • 3

Click on the Canon printer that you want to uninstall. Click “Remove.” An uninstallation wizard pops up on your computer screen.

    • 4

Click "Uninstall." The Canon printer uninstalls.

    • 5

Select when you would like to restart your computer. It must be restarted in order for the uninstallation to complete.

Tips & Warnings

  • The fewer windows and programs you have open, the faster your programs list loads.

  • Do not interrupt your computer while it’s uninstalling the Canon printer to prevent errors from occurring.
