How to Install Yamaha Natural Sound Speakers

How to Install Yamaha Natural Sound Speakers thumbnail
Speakers need the correct wiring to function properly.

Yamaha's Natural Sound speakers are high-end speakers that feature a wide range of frequencies, making them a popular choice for home theater systems. The speakers are enclosed in a wooden cabinet, allowing the unit to stand on its own without a floor stand. All speakers within Yamaha's Natural Sound series have bi-wiring. When installing the speakers, make sure to run wire to both the main speaker terminal and the subwoofers.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the speakers in your desired location. The general rule is to place them at ear level.

    • 2

Measure the distance between the Yamaha speakers and the audio receiver.

    • 3

Purchase speaker cables appropriate for the distance. Speakers that are less than 80 feet from the receiver should have 16-gauge wire. Anything greater should use 12- or 14-gauge wire.

    • 4

Cut the wire to the measured length plus 3 or 4 inches in case you decide to move them around later.

    • 5

Connect the speaker wire to the terminals on the back of the Yamaha speakers. Check the speaker wire for markings of the polarity and match the sides to the correct terminals (negative is black, positive is red). Yamaha Natural Sound speakers have different terminals for the subwoofer. Be sure to connect the wires to both the central channel and the subwoofer channel.

    • 6

Connect the other end of the speaker wires to the audio receiver. Be sure to attach the speaker wire to the correct channel. A speaker on the left side of the room should connect to a left channel speaker. The subwoofer wiring should connect with the same terminals as the main channel.

Play some audio through the speakers and asses the audio clarity. Yamaha Natural speakers produce rich and profound sound, so if the audio coming out doesn't sound correct, adjust some of the levels on the receiver until the sound is balanced.
