A 2Wire modem can connect your laptop to the Internet.

AT&T provides DSL service at multiple-speed packages, to suit your budget and needs for connectivity. An AT&T 2Wire wireless modem is one of many wireless modems provided by AT&T for high-speed Internet. Your laptop can pick up the signal given by the 2Wire modem in order to connect your computer wireless to the Internet, or you can hard-wire the modem to your laptop. However, hard-wiring will not provide a wireless connection.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to your Start menu in Windows, open your control panel and click "Network and Sharing." Select "Create New Wireless Network."

    • 2

Click on the AT&T 2Wire modem when it populates on your screen. Your computer will attempt to find any wireless signals, routers and modems in your area.

    • 3

Type in a password the administrator may have created for the AT&T wireless network.

    • 4

Open the web browser of your choice and access a website to test the wireless connection.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want your mobile laptop to connect directly to the AT&T 2Wire modem, plug one end of an Ethernet cable into the back of the 2Wire modem and the other into the Ethernet port on the back of your laptop. Follow the same steps for setup.
