Prepare a web page to display the map and open it for editing.

    • 2

Search Google Maps to locate the address or other point of interest you wish to display: for example "423 Ocean Avenue, New York, NY."

    • 3

Zoom in or out until the map shows sufficient detail for a visitor to find the location. Select the type of map to display from satellite image, road map, or combination.

    • 4

Click on the "Link" menu item at the top right corner of the frame around the map. Select the second entry under "Paste HTML to embed in website." Highlight and copy the long string of HTML that appears in the text box.

    • 5

Paste the copied link into your web page; save and test the results with a web browser.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can change the size of map displayed on your web page by clicking on the "customize and preview embedded map" link before copying the HTML. All sizes automatically center on the mapped location.

  • Adding more complex maps or programmable maps entails use of the Google Maps Application Programming Interface.
