Make your own blacklist using Google custom search.

While Google is a great search engine, it can be frustrating at times when the same unwanted websites keep surfacing to the top of your results page. There is a way to remove one or more domains from your search results using Google custom search. Even though Google custom search was designed to include domains, it can be used to exclude domains. Follow these steps to create your own blacklist search engine, and you will never see those unwanted domains in your search results again.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to Google's custom search engine (google.com/cse/) and select "Create a Custom Search."

    • 2

Set up your search engine. Fill out the forms. In "Sites to Search," add one domain, for example, test.com. (You will remove it later.) Click on "Next."

    • 3

Choose or customize a style. The default style is fine. Click on "Next."

    • 4

Click on "Include More Sites." Click on "Exclude Sites." Here you can either exclude sites one at a time or exclude sites in bulk. Enter the domain(s) of the site or sites you wish to exclude from your search results. You can also choose either the whole domain or specific pages from a domain to exclude. Click on "Save."

    • 5

Remove the single domain you added under the "Included Domains" (test.com). Check the box next to the name of the included domain and click "Delete."

    • 6

Try out your custom search engine. Click on "My Search Engines." Click on the name of your search engine. Type in one of the domains including the ".com" from your excluded list. You should not see any results. You now have a blacklist search engine.
