How to Delete a Google Checkout Account

Google Checkout is a payment system that allows buyers and merchants to complete transactions without exposing financial information. Much like its bigger competitor PayPal, Google Checkout is primarily for Internet transactions. Each Google Checkout account is associated with a Google account. To delete the Checkout account completely, you have to delete the associated Google account.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign in to the Google Accounts homepage with the Google account associated with your Google Checkout account (see Resources).

    • 2

Click “Edit” next to "My Products" about a third of the way down the page. Click “Close account and delete all services and info associated with it” under the "Delete Account" heading on the next page.

    • 3

Place a checkmark next to each of the Google products listed on the page to confirm that you understand you will no longer have access to this information. Enter your Google password in the box near the bottom of the page.

    • 4

Put a checkmark next to “Yes, I want to delete my account.” Put a checkmark next to “Yes, I acknowledge that I am still responsible for any charges incurred due to any pending financial transactions.”

    • 5

      Click “Delete Google Account.”

Tips & Warnings

  • If you would prefer to keep your Google account, yet do not want to use Google Checkout anymore, delete the payment information instead. This will effectively disable your Google Checkout account.

  • Deleting your Google account will delete all information associated with it, except for Google Alerts, Google Groups and Google Docs. Do not delete your Google account unless you no longer need access to the information associated with it.
