How to Check DVD Firmware
Most electronic devices have some sort of firmware installed on the system, including DVD players. This firmware instructs the equipment how to function and, oftentimes, when newer equipment that is compatible with DVD player is released, new updates become available. If you are not sure about what firmware version you have running on your DVD player, there is a method of checking through the system menu.

Primary Method

Power on the DVD and the television. Push "Video" on the TV so the video content is displayed on the television.

Push "Menu" on the DVD player's remote control. A series of options appears on the screen.

Choose the "Setup" option. A new display of DVD controls appears on the screen.

Select "Product Support" (or "Product Information," depending on the DVD player you are using). The current model number is displayed on the screen, including the "Software Version" or "Firmware Version." The number located next to this is the firmware you are currently running on the DVD player.
Secondary Method.

Push "Setup" on the DVD remote control. Once the display screen appears, choose "General."

Select "Maintenance" on the new screen.

Chose "Update" and the firmware is displayed in the middle of the screen.
