  • Cold water
  • Mild detergent
  • Sprayer
  • Towel
  • Home dry-cleaning kit

Instructions

      Clean the stained area quickly in clear, cold water if the clothing item is one you normally wash yourself. If the stains have dried and are not easy to remove, immerse the clothing in water for several hours, changing the water from time to time. Then clean the item in the usual way, using cold water and mild detergent with no bleach.

      Wet the stained area lightly with a sprayer if you plan on using a home dry-cleaning method. Use a towel to remove any excess water from the stain region. Follow the instructions that came with the home dry-cleaning product you will be using.

      Mix one capful of vinegar with 1 cup of distilled water. Moisten a paper towel in the mixture and use it to clean any rock salt stains from your leather shoes. Let the shoes dry.
