How to Change Texting Caller ID

Change a texting caller ID to update a contact.

When you have a cell phone, you usually input numbers into your contact list for easy calling and texting. By doing so, you don't have to manually type the person's phone number each time you want to call or text someone that you call frequently. At some point, however, you might want to change a caller's texting ID, perhaps because you made a misspelling in his name or want to nickname her with another name.

Instructions

1. Navigate to your cell phone's contact list. On most cell phones, you can simply press the right soft key from the home screen to access your contact list.

2. Locate the caller's texting ID who you want to change. Click "Options" and then "Edit." The editing screen comes up.

3. Make the changes that you wish by erasing the section you want to change. Press the "Clr" key to do this. Then type the numbers or letters into the section and click "Save."

Tips & Warnings

• Consult your cell phone manual if you are having trouble figuring out how to locate your contact list.

• When you change the texting ID of a caller, you also change the calling ID of the caller.
