How to Play Warhammer Dawn of War 2

"Dawn of War 2" is a real time strategy (RTS) game set in the "Warhammer 40,000" game universe. This game differs from most RTS games because resource gathering, base construction, and unit construction are not the main focus. The player starts each mission with several squads of Blood Raven Space Marines. This is an important aspect of playing the game. Units cannot be replaced during a mission, which means the player must use cover to prevent losing too many Space Marines to complete that particular mission.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the unit or squad you want to control. There are several ways to select units and squads in "Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2." Clicking with the left mouse button on a unit or the unit's picture on the right side of the screen will select it. Clicking on the squad picture on the top-right corner of the screen will select all of the units in that squad. Clicking and holding down the left mouse button allows the player to draw a box on the screen, which selects all of the units in that box.

    • 2

Click on any empty area on the map with the right mouse button. This will cause the selected unit or squad to move to that location. Pressing the "Attack-Move" button on the interface will cause those units to attack any nearby enemies while moving to the selected location.

    • 3

Click on a cover area. Your units will automatically use cover when ordered to move into it. This will provide some protection against enemy attacks. A green dot over the Space Marine indicates heavy cover. A yellow dot indicates light cover. This is an important aspect of playing "Warhammer: 40,000: Dawn of War 2." Using cover to protect your units will drastically reduce your casualties.

    • 4

Click an enemy unit with the right mouse button. This will cause the selected units to attack that enemy. Your units might have to move to get into weapon range of the targeted enemy.

    • 5

Click on a building with the left mouse button to have your units enter the building. This provides more protection than using cover. The units will automatically take firing positions at the windows of the building and attack any enemy units in range.

    • 6

Click on a building to select it. Click the "Exit All" icon to have your units leave the building.

Tips & Warnings

  • Suppression is an aspect of playing "Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2" that can significantly affect the player's strategy. Suppressed units move and fire much slower than normal, putting those units at a significant disadvantage. A unit is automatically suppressed if being attacked by any rapid fire or sniper weapon.
