How to Clear The History On An iPad

To keep your iPad clean from any unnecessary items, it is important to frequently clear the cache, history and cookies from the device. The iPad uses Safari as the primary Web browser so anyone familiar with Safari will have an advantage. As you visit websites, cookies are stored on your computer. These cookies remember information. For example, when you are at a shopping website, cookies remember what you select and put in a "shopping cart." While they provide a service, they also take up space and should be removed periodically.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on "Settings" from the home screen of the iPad

    • 2

Select "Safari" from the menu on the left.

    • 3

Tap either "Clear History," "Clear Cache" or "Clear Cookies" to complete the task. Your history is a list of websites and keywords used in search engines that are saved on your computer. These files will take up space. Similarly, clearing the cache will delete temporary files that are downloaded through your Internet browser.

Tips & Warnings

  • Go through the process of clearing all three categories on a regular basis.
