How to Connect a Hydrogen Generator to a Car

Introducing hydrogen gas, generated by a hydrogen generator known as a electrolyzer, into the intake of your vehicle's engine will increase fuel mileage and lower emissions. This modification is not without its hazards, however. Hydrogen is extremely combustible in a confined area, and precautions must be taken to prevent detonation of the electrolyzer. Fortunately, hydrogen also dissipates rapidly in the air, making it one of the safer alternative fuels.

Instructions

    • 1

Position and mount the electrolyzer and the bubbler in the engine compartment of the car. In today's vehicles, space is hard to come by, but many times there is ample space for the bubbler and electrolyzer to sit behind the passenger or driver's side headlight. It's important to place the unit as close to the air filter housing as possible to maximize the usable hydrogen supplied to the engine.

Drill a 1/4-inch hole into the air filter housing and mount a 1/4-inch vacuum fitting into the hole. Attach the output vacuum line from the bubbler to the vacuum fitting on the air filter housing.

Attach the ground wire from the electrolyzer to the negative battery terminal. Make sure you have wired a switch in the ground wire to shut off the electrolyzer in an emergency, and wire the power wire into a fuse that is on only when the ignition key is in the "Run" position. Never wire the power wire of the unit to the battery directly.
