How to Create a Flower-Shaped Die Cut
Die cuts are shapes cut out of card board or heavy paper that are used to decorate art projects and scrapbooks. The flower is used very often in die cuts because of its versatility and beauty. You can save money and have more control over the look of your scrapbooks by being creative and making your own flower-shaped die cuts with materials you probably already have. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing you made them yourself.

1
Create a simple shape of a flower in a graphic editing program like Paint Shop Pro. Size the file so that it is the size that you want for the project in inches or centimeters. Alternatively, you can go to a free, public domain clip art website and download the flower shapes that you like. Open the clip art in a simple program like Microsoft Paint or Paintbrush and resize it to the dimensions you need.

2
Print out the image on printer-safe card stock. Cut out the flower shape slowly and carefully with a pair of very sharp scissors for the cleanest cut.

3
Lay the patterned paper or colored card stock you want to use face down and place the flower stencil you just made on top. Trace the outline with a sharp pencil to get the line as close to the edge of the shape as you can.

4
Cut the shape out of the patterned or colored paper or card stock and you now have your flower-shaped die cuts.
