How Do You Reinstall Internet Explorer 6 SP2?
Internet Explorer 6 SP2 requires reinstallation if its files are corrupted or damaged. Damaged installations of Internet Explorer crash and don't work properly. Since Internet Explorer can't be reinstalled separately, reinstall Internet Explorer 6 SP2's files automatically with Windows XP's System File Checker or along with a Windows XP Service Pack.

Use Windows XP's System File Checker

Open the "Run" dialog. Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of your screen, then click "Run."

Start a Windows XP System File Checker scan. Automatically scan and reinstall Internet Explorer 6 SP2's files by typing "sfc /scannow" into the "Run" box, then hitting "Enter."

Restart your computer when the system file scan is finished. Click the "Start" button in the bottom-left corner of your screen, click "Shut Down," then click "Restart."

Open Microsoft's Update website. (See Resources.)

Perform an express update installation. Click "Express Install (Recommended)."

Confirm installation of Windows XP Service Pack 3. Install the automatically selected service pack by clicking "Install."

Agree to Microsoft's software license and begin installation. Read the license agreement, then install an updated version of Internet Explorer 6 SP2 along with Windows XP Service Pack 3 by clicking "Yes" if you agree.

Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of your screen, then click "Run." Type "appwiz.cpl" into the "Run" box, then click "OK."

View updates in the "Add/Remove Programs" window. Click the "Show Updates" check box in the window.

Uninstall Service Pack 2 or 3. Scroll down in the program list if necessary, then click "Windows XP Service Pack 2" or "Windows XP Service Pack 3." Uninstall the Service Pack by clicking "Remove."

Microsoft recommends installing the latest version of Internet Explorer and not using outdated versions such as Internet Explorer 6 SP2. Newer versions of Internet Explorer contain security and feature enhancements. Install the latest version from Microsoft's Internet Explorer website, unless you require an older versio.
