Instructions on How to Replace a Fuel Filter on a 2000 Chevy Blazer
The 2000 Chevrolet Blazer uses a fuel pump that is located in the fuel tank. This pump suctions the fuel into the fuel lines, and the fuel filter then picks out any debris that the pump may have sent into the lines. A small strainer extracts all the big particles in the fuel, before the fuel reaches the fuel filter. The fuel filter is designed to take the smaller particles out of the fuel line before the fuel gets to the engine, and it must be changed if it cannot perform this task adequately any longer.

1
Crawl under the truck and locate the fuel filter. The fuel filter sits under the driver door and is mounted on the frame rail. The filter has a cylindrical shape; it has a fuel line running into it ,and another fuel line running out of it.
-
2
Hold the larger nut on the inlet side of the filter with a 21mm wrench and loosen the smaller nut with a 16mm wrench. Pull the line away from the fuel filter.
-
-
3
Disconnect the outlet side of the filter by pulling the tab on the quick-disconnect and then pulling off the filter nozzle.
-
4
Slide the filter out from the plastic mounting bracket. The filter should slide out in either direction.
-
5
Position the new filter to the mounting bracket. Ensure the arrow on the filter is pointing toward the engine compartment of the truck. The arrow designates fuel flow.
-
6
Push the outlet line onto the filter. The line will lock once it has been been pushed far enough onto the filter pipe.
-
7
Hand-tighten the inlet line to the filter. Secure the line to the filter by holding the larger nut with a 21mm wrench and twisting the smaller nut clockwise with a 16mm wrench.
-
8
Start the truck and watch for any leaks along the fuel line. Look out for any leaks around the fuel filter.

Tips & Warnings
Allowing the truck to sit for a few hours will relieve the pressure in the fuel line.
Use caution when working around gasoline. Gasoline is very toxic and flammable.
