How to Crochet a Rose Flower
Crochet is a versatile medium that allows you to make garments, decorative pieces, jewelry, and even toys. Crochet roses make pretty adornments on afghans or scarves. They are simple to make and you can crochet several of them in a short time. Try attaching floral wire to the roses and arrange in a vase to make a special centerpiece.

1
Chain 41 stitches, leaving a 12-inch tail at the start of the chain. Maintain uniform tension throughout the pattern so that the flower comes out equally stitched. This pattern makes a rose that is 2 1/2-inches wide.
-
2
Make one double crochet in the fourth chain from the hook. Chain two stitches, then make two double crochet stitches in the same space. Chain one, skip two chains. In the next chain, make two double crochet stitches, two chain stitches, and two double crochet stitches. Repeat this one more time.

Crochet a slip stitch in the first chain two space. Chain three, and make six double crochet stitches in the same space. Single crochet in chain one space. Make seven double crochet in next chain two space. Repeat the single crochet part once more. Fasten off the work by creating a knot at the end.

Thread the 12-inch tail of yarn on a needle. Roll the crocheted piece that you made in a spiral shape so that the petals come together to resemble a rose. Stitch along the bottom of the petals to hold them in shape, using the foundation chain to guide where you stitch. Fasten off once the flower holds shape.
