How to Use Xvid

Xvid is a video codec that allows you to play files on your computer that are formatted using this method. If you don't have the Xvid codec installed on your computer, none of the video programs that play media will understand the video and audio information contained within the file. Once you download and install the Xvid codec, you can then use any media program on your computer to play Xvid video files at your discretion.

Instructions

1. Open your browser.

2. Go to the official Xvid download site (see References).

3. Click "Xvid Codec" from the top of the screen and then "Xvid Downloads" from the drop-down menu.

4. Click on the "Stable Release" link from the left side of the screen, and then click on the "download" link for the type of operating system you are running on your computer. The Xvid setup archive will be downloaded to your computer.

5. Execute the Xvid installation file. This will open the install program. Click "Next" to install the Xvid codec onto your computer. You can now play Xvid video files in any media program that you currently use.
