How to Get Rid of the "Enter Parameter Value" Box in an Access 2007 Query

Microsoft Access 2007 is a database management application to create a variety of reports, forms and queries. When you open a query you have created in the application, the "Enter Parameter Value" dialog box may appear if you have an identifier or expression that Access does not recognize. You can stop the this box from appearing by inspecting the expressions that are causing the dialog box to appear. You can then fix the identifier that is written incorrectly.

  • Note the name of the identifier when the "Enter Parameter Value" dialog box appears in the Microsoft Access 2007 application.

  • Click on the “Cancel” button to close out of the "Enter Parameter Value" dialog box. Right-click on the query from the navigation pane and then click on the “Design View” option.

  • Look over the expression and identifiers listed in the “Field” and “Criteria” rows and see if any of the text matches what was shown in the Enter Parameter Value dialog box.

  • Change the identifier, as there must be an error in the way the identifier was written. Click on the “OK” button after making the appropriate edits to the identifier.

  • Click on the “Microsoft Office” button and then click on the “Save” option to save all of your changes. Return to the query and the "Enter Parameter Value" box should no longer pop up in the application.
