The banking software Quicken provides a quick and smooth way to transfer your Microsoft Money data into Quicken 2009 or 2010. You must create a new Quicken file to import data. Quicken must be installed on the same computer as Microsoft Money in order for the program to recognize your Money file. Follow these quick steps to get started with your Money file in Quicken.

  1. In Quicken 2010

      Install and open Quicken on your computer.

      Click "I Am a Current Microsoft Money User" on the Quicken home screen in Quicken 2010. Click "Get Started." You'll see a message when the conversion has been completed.

      Click "Read Next Steps."

      Start from scratch instead if you are a new Quicken user. In Step 2, select "I Am a New User" instead of "I Am a Current Microsoft Money User," and click "Get Started." Follow the prompts to set up an account.

      Click "File." Select "Import." Click "Microsoft Money File."

      Select your .mny file. Click "Open."
