How to Access Router Settings With No Internet Connection
Routers provide your computer with a gateway to other sections of the network and the Internet. Even if you do not have an Internet connection, you can still access your router and configure its settings. You can connect an Ethernet cable from your computer directly to the router. This works best with a laptop, but you can also use a desktop machine if no laptop is available. Once directly connected, a router serves an IP address to your machine where you can access the configuration console.

1
Connect the Ethernet cable from the laptop or desktop's network card to the router. Turn on the router first, then boot up the computer. Since the computer is directly connected to the router, it will retrieve an IP address from the router during boot-up.

2
Open a web browser and type the IP address for the router into the browser's navigation text box. Each router comes with a preconfigured IP address (see Resources section), and a username and password for the console.

Enter the username and password for the router. This is the administrator username and password used to configure the router and access the main console. Once the credentials are supplied, you can access your router's interface, where you can configure it even if you do not have an Internet connection.
