How to Remove the Cover on an HP P1000 Printer
At some point during your ownership of an HP P1000, you may find that you need to remove the cover on the printer. If you need to remove certain parts, such as the different ports in the back or the cartridge carriage, you will need to remove the printer's case. In order to do that, you will first need to remove both the top cover and the rear door on the printer. The rear door is fairly straightforward to remove, while removing the top cover is a more complex procedure.

1
Turn off the P1000 printer and unplug the electrical cord from the back of the printer.

2
Open the top cover of the P1000 on its hinges by gently lifting up the front, lower edge.

Find the two curved latches that hold the cover onto the inside of the printer. Using the flat-head screwdriver, slowly pop each latch off its fitting inside of the machine. Do not apply too much force to the latches or they will break.

Remove the cover from the printer. You will need to rotate the cover as you thread the curved latches through the narrow openings in the printer's cover.
Rear Door

5
Turn the printer around so the back of the machine is facing you, or move so you are facing the back of the printer.
-
6
Locate the rear door's knob, which is large and made of black plastic. Gently turn the plastic knob counterclockwise one-quarter turn.
-
7
Take off the back door of the P1000. Do not break any of the plastic tabs holding the door in place.
