  1. Connecting the Printer

      Turn on the printer and make sure the USB cord is attached securely to the printer and computer. Turn on your computer and boot up Redhat Linux. Start up the printer configuration tool by typing "redhat-config-printer-tui" or if you have the graphical desktop loaded, click on "Main Menu," then "System Settings," and finally "Printing."

      Click the "New" button in the printer configuration tool and type in a name for the new printer under the "Name and Aliases" tab on the window that comes up. Make sure the name is not too close to other installed printers to avoid any confusion later. Click on the "Queue Type" tab and select the "Attached Printer" box.

      Select the "Driver" tab and click the box next to the correct make and model printer from the list. This will install the proper driver for your printer. If your printer is not on the list, select the "Postscript Printer" option.
