How to Make a Community Lot in Sims 2: Nightlife thumbnail
Although not restricted to any particular category, community lots in "Sims 2: Nightlife" can include parks, nightclubs, and stores.

A community lot in the "Sims 2" series of computer games is a city-owned property that allows any Sim resident to visit and utilize its services. Creating a community lot in the "Sims 2: Nightlife" expansion offers the user a choice of new locations, access to restricted items (not available for residential lots), and new group-oriented activities.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter a community in the "Sims 2: Nightlife" main menu and choose an area for your new community lot. The "Sims 2: Nightlife" expansion adds a Downtown area to your available community areas.

    • 2

Click on the "Empty Lots" button on the lower left-hand toolbar and select one of the "Lot Size" options. Please note that community lots do not have to meet zoning requirements and, thus, may be placed next to residential lots.

    • 3

Place your lot on an empty parcel of land. Name your empty lot and select the "Community Lot" option.

    • 4

Construct and decorate your community lot as you would on a residential lot. Please note that there is no cost for constructing buildings and placing items on a community lot.

    • 5

Select the "Save & Exit" option in the "Settings" menu when you have completed constructing your community lot. The game will save your progress and Sim residents may now have access to the community lot.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are aiming to maximize the amount of time Sim residents will spend on a community lot, you should consider a Sim's basic needs when you are placing objects. Sim residents that do not have access to restrooms, for example, will leave when their "Bladder" meter decreases; similarly, Sims that do have access to "fun" activities will leave after a short visit to the lot. The "Sims 2: Nightlife" expansion offers a number of group-oriented items designed for the community lot (owing to their large size) that can keep Sim residents entertained.
