How to Locate an Address by Street

It is easy to find an address by street.

Finding a complete address by street is easy, providing you know certain information about where in the world the street is located. The more you know, the easier it is to pin down the correct address when more than one street has the same name. A person may want to locate a complete address for a variety of reasons, including sending letters or to get directions using GPS. It is a relatively quick process and should take under five minutes.

Instructions

Using Google Maps to Locate an Address

1. Visit Google Maps and provide as much information as possible about the address, separating details with commas: "Smith Street, Los Angeles, California." Click "Search Maps."

2. Wait a few seconds for Google Maps to return an aerial view of the first street matching the information provided. If there is more than one "Smith Street," Google will display a "Did You Mean?" list with links to other streets matching your information.

3. Look at the aerial view from Google. In some cases, Google will provide street numbers as text overlaying the aerial photograph. They are displayed in the same way as street names and can usually be found above the house that corresponds to the number. It also provides a zip code for the area.

Using the USPS Website to Locate an Address

1. Visit the USPS website and provide as much information as possible about the address you are trying to locate. The service requires you to know the city, state and street.

2. Click "Submit."

3. Wait a second or two for the USPS website to display a list of possible zip codes for the area based on the information provided. It will not be able to provide a house number if you don't already know it.

Using White Pages to Locate an Address

1. Visit White Pages and click "Advanced." This is useful if you know the name of the person at the address.

2. Complete the form. Click "Find."

3. Wait a second for White Pages to return results, including an address, if possible. White Pages also provides information about the person, such as if he owns a business.
