Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Basketballs
  • Basketballs
  1. Step 1

Ready the defense for an inbound beneath the basket: First guard along the middle of the baseline, first forward near one corner and second forward in the other, second guard near half-court line, center at opposite point.

  2. Step 2

Instruct the first guard to stay in position beneath the basket to prevent the inbounder from passing into the center.

  3. Step 3

Trap the ball handler with the first guard and one of the forwards after the ball is inbounded into a corner.

  4. Step 4

Move the other forward across court toward the trap and cut off any passing lanes.

  5. Step 5

Note that if the ball is passed back to the inbounder, you should trap him or her with the guard and forward.

  6. Step 6

Reposition the second forward to close down the passing lane.

  7. Step 7

Protect midcourt with the second guard, and watch for errant passes.

  8. Step 8

Move the center into defensive position according to the approaching offensive players. Do not let them get between him or her and the net.

Tips & Warnings
  • In normal play, the ball handler has five seconds to make a pass. Trap the handler as best you can to force the violation.
  • Defend aggressively, but watch the fouling.

on 1/18/2006 Do normal layups for approximately five minutes. Than do 20 right hand layups in a row with out missing. If one individual does miss, start again. Do the same for left hand. Increase number as they master both sides.

This makes each player concentrate on making his layup, because they don't want to be the one that misses and cause the drill to be repeated. Great team concept also!
