How to Transfer Photos to a Computer From an HP Photosmart E327

Save

The HP Photosmart E327 gives the user the ability to take digital photos. These digital photos can be transferred to a computer, where they can be edited, printed on an attached printer, emailed or stored for later use. The Photosmart E327 was sold with a USB cord that can be used to transfer the photos on the camera to a computer. If a computer either has a memory card slot installed or if you buy an external memory card reader, you can transfer the camera's photos using the camera's memory card.

Things You'll Need

  • USB cable included with the E327
  • Memory card
  • Memory card reader or drive

USB Cable Transfer

  • Turn on the computer.

  • Plug the USB cable that was included with the Photosmart E327 into the computer and the camera. The E327's USB port is covered by a plastic flap that you lift up to expose the port. Make sure to plug the small end of the USB cord into the camera.

  • Turn on the camera. If installed, the HP Photosmart software will automatically launch. Once the software is running, click "Start Transfer." If the computer does not have the HP Photosmart software installed and it has Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 installed, the operating system will automatically detect the camera and open a window to initialize the photo transfer.

  • Disconnect the camera from the USB cable once the image transfer process is complete.

Memory Card Transfer

  • Open the camera's battery door and remove the memory card. The memory card is located next to the battery and is ejected by pressing on the card with your finger.

  • Put the memory card into the memory card reader or drive in the computer. The memory card will only go in one way, so if it does not fit, turn it over and try again.

  • Open the "My Computer" folder by clicking on the computer's "Start" button and then clicking on "My Computer." The memory card should show up under the memory card drive. If the memory card drive is not showing up, right-click on the "My Computer" window and click on "Refresh."

  • Double-click on the memory card icon and find the folder labeled "DCIM." Your photos should be in this folder, either loose or in a sub-folder. Select all of your images by click on "Select" all under "Edit" at the top of the window. After all of the images are selected, find and click "Copy" under "Edit" at the top of the window. Click on the "My Documents" link on the left side of the window.

  • Create a new folder in the "My Documents" window by clicking on the "Make a New Folder" link on the left side of the window. A new folder will appear and will be labeled "New Folder." Type a new name for the folder and press "Enter." Double-click on the new folder to open it. Once you are in the new folder click on "Edit" at the top of the page and "Paste." All of the photos from the memory card will be transferred to the folder.
