  • Open a \"Command Prompt\" window. The \"Command Prompt\" window will be found under the \"Accessories\" section of the \"Start\" menu.

  • Type the command \"sqlplus username/password@database\" to start SQL Plus. Replace the word \"username\" with your Oracle username. Replace the word \"password\" with your Oracle password. Replace the word \"database\" with the name of the database you want to connect to. You will be presented with an \"SQL>\" prompt when you have successfully connected to the database.

  • Type the statements and queries that you want to execute at the \"SQL>\" prompt.

  • Type the \"host\" command to execute DOS commands from within the SQL Plus program. For example, \"host dir\" will run the DOS \"dir\" command which prints the contents of your current directory.

  • Type the command \"exit\" to leave the SQL Plus program.
