1
Choose an area in your kitchen for your new coffee bar. Decide whether you want to build custom shelves and counter space or use shelving or counters you currently have. In either case, the area should be about 4 feet by 2 feet, minimum, to store a coffee maker, espresso machine and all your bar's supplies. There should be a refrigerator close by or space to install a mini refrigerator.
-
2
Install shelving, if necessary, to hold coffee-making supplies such as mocha powders, syrups and flavoring.
-
-
3
Purchase a good coffee and espresso machine, plus coffee beans and espresso beans. Store the beans in attractive clear glass canisters set up in a row next to the coffee machine.
-
4
Purchase stirring sticks, drink thermometers, steaming pitchers, mocha flavors and syrups. Organize them in brown or tan canisters to go with your coffee theme.
-
5
Create a menu by writing the different drinks you are prepared to offer on a small chalkboard. Lean the chalkboard against the wall in back of your canisters of supplies, or screw it to the wall above your espresso machine.
-
6
Protect the surface of your cabinets, shelves or counters by having tempered glass cut to size at a hardware store. Install it using non-slip pads at the corners, and place your coffee bar items on top of it.
-
7
Install mug hooks on the bottom of kitchen cabinets near your coffee maker to hang rows of coffee mugs.
