The hydrogen peroxide you may have in your medicine chest is all you need to end bad breath, whiten your teeth and improve the health of your gums. Hydrogen peroxide is effective for killing bacteria inside the mouth that cover your teeth and gums. Whether you use it to brush your teeth and tongue or just to rinse your mouth, hydrogen peroxide can clean your teeth effectively and economically.

      Pour 1 oz. of hydrogen peroxide directly onto your toothbrush to clean it. Wait a few seconds while the toothbrush fizzes and foams and then rinse it with cool water.

      Add three or four drops of hydrogen peroxide to the bristles of your toothbrush and brush your teeth as normal. Brush all areas of your mouth (including your tongue) for two to three minutes, then spit the hydrogen peroxide in the sink. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with cool water. Don't swallow any of the hydrogen peroxide.

      Mix equal parts hydrogen peroxide and cool water in a cup. Take a mouthful of the diluted hydrogen peroxide, swish it around your mouth for 30 seconds and spit it out. Rinse your mouth out.

      Make your own toothpaste with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Moisten your toothbrush with several drops of hydrogen peroxide, then coat the bristles with baking soda. Brush your teeth and tongue in the normal fashion, spit the paste out and rinse your mouth thoroughly with cool water.
