How to Change LCD Resolution

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitors produce high-quality images of your computer's text and graphics. They are more expensive than standard CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors, but ideal for graphic artists and video creators who need to view crisp, clear graphics. Adjusting your LCD's resolution is very straightforward if an alternate resolution is available (some LCD monitors only have one setting, so changing the resolution isn't possible).

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click in an empty space on your screen.

    • 2

Select the name of your LCD monitor from the list of options to bring up the settings dialog box. If you don't see the monitor name there, click "Properties".

    • 3

Click the "Screen Resolution" or similar tab from the settings dialog box. If you clicked "Properties", then choose the "Settings" tab.

    • 4

Move the screen resolution tab to the left or right to change the resolution.

    • 5

Click "OK" when you're finished. Click "Apply" to save the new resolution settings and wait for the screen to reset itself. Restart the computer if required.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also access your LCD screen settings from the Control Panel on your computer. Just click the "Display" option.

  • These instructions apply to Windows operating systems.
