When creating an autumn centerpiece, you can emphasize the season through the idea of the harvest and the feeling of abundance or plenty.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Floral Foam
  • Floral Shears
  • Floral Tape
  • Flowers
  • Berries
  • Fruits
  • Cut To Size Wooden Boards

Preparation

Step1
Figure out the shape of your centerpiece.
Step2
Draw the centerpiece you would like, keeping in mind the color scheme of the room and the table setting.
Step3
Go to your local flower shop or, better yet, local market to purchase flowers, fruits and berries that are in season.
Step4
Buy branches, leaves and buds that are in season.
Step5
Purchase floral foam, which comes in large blocks.
Step6
Go to the lumberyard and buy a wooden board cut in the shape of the centerpiece.

Assembly

Step1
Assemble the centerpiece as close to the day it will be used as possible.
Step2
Set down the wooden board that will function as the base of the centerpiece.
Step3
Cut the floral foam into the shape you want using a large serrated knife. The shape you cut it into will determine the larger shape of the centerpiece.
Step4
Soak the floral foam in water.
Step5
Nail the foam onto the board.
Step6
Arrange leaves and branches in the middle of the centerpiece by sticking branches and stems into the foam. Attach greenery using floral tape if necessary.
Step7
Cover the shape until no foam is visible, and allow the greenery to flow over the sides.
Step8
Arrange exceptional, unmarked pieces of fruit and berries on top of the floral foam until it's completely covered.
Step9
Intertwine flowers in the leaves and branches.
Step10
Refrigerate until use.
