How to Troubleshoot the Mio C220
The Mio C220 is a car navigation system that comes equipped with a 20-channel SiRFstarIII GPS chipset, 3.5-inch Touchscreen TFT LCD display, 400 MHz CPU and a battery capable of powering the device for up to five hours. Users can access one of the maps preloaded on the device and receive turn-by-turn voice directions to a chosen destination. If you experience difficulty getting your Mio C220 to operate properly, following a few troubleshooting procedures may help to resolve the problem.

Frozen Screen

Press the power button, located on the top edge of the device.

Hold the button down until you see a screen presenting you with two options: "Suspend" and "Restart." Tap the "Restart" icon.

If the problem persists, press and hold the power button for approximately eight seconds to shut down the device. Press and hold the power button for another 10 seconds to start the device back up.
Touchscreen Problems

Tap the button labeled "Settings" while at the "Home" screen.

Access the touchscreen settings by tapping on the third icon from the left in the top row. Tap the check mark icon.

When prompted, place your fingertip on the target that appears on the screen; a new target will appear. Continue touching each target until the calibration process is complete.

GPS Problems

Check that the GPS antenna has an unobstructed view. If you are unable to get a clear view of the sky, wait until you are in a more open area and try again.

Turn off or relocate any other wireless devices in the vicinity of the C220, as they may interfere with the device's reception.

If the weather is cloudy, wait for conditions to improve and try again.
Connection Problems

Examine the USB ports on the device and your computer. Confirm that the USB cable is properly connected.

If you have your Mio C220 connected to a USB hub, shut down the computer and the device. Disconnect the C220 from the hub and plug it directly into one of your computer's USB ports.

Press and hold the C220's power button until it turns back on. Restart your computer.

Tips & Warnings
If you are attempting to use the Mio C220 in a car with tinted windows, you may need to use an external antenna in order to get adequate reception.
If you are unable to read the information on the screen, access the setting screen and tap the icon of a lightbulb. This will take you to the backlight settings; adjust the slider bar until you reach a comfortable setting.
