The Droid Eris was HTC's first Android smartphone designed for use on the Verizon Wireless network. Running on the Android operating system, the Droid Eris has access to thousands of free and paid applications through the Android Market. The free Yahoo! Mail application allows you to read and compose messages, and also receives push notifications when new emails arrive. There are also features for folders, search, photo preview and the use of multiple Yahoo! accounts.

Instructions

      Access the Android Market by tapping on the "Market" icon in your phone's App Drawer. The icon has a picture of a shopping bag with the Android logo on the side.

      Press the Droid Eris' search key, signified by a magnifying glass, to open a text box.

      Type "Yahoo! Mail" in the text box and press the magnifying glass icon next to it to enter your selection.

      Tap to select the "Yahoo! Mail" application from Yahoo! Inc. out of the displayed search results.

      Tap "Install" at the top-right of the Yahoo! Mail application's homepage. The application begins to download to your Droid Eris, and is available in your App Drawer upon completion.

      Open your App Drawer and select the "Yahoo! Mail" application.

      Enter your Yahoo! account information when prompted to begin accessing your Yahoo! email on your Droid Eris.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're browsing the Android Market from a computer, click "Install" from the Yahoo! Mail application page to begin the installation on your Droid Eris. You must be logged into your Google account to sync applications in this manner.

  • The Yahoo! Mail application requires 2.3MB of memory and Android 2.0.1 or higher to function.

  • The Yahoo! Mail application requires the use of data when sending and receiving messages. Be aware of your data plan's limitations to ensure that you are not assessed any additional charges.
