Using a Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer is the simplest way to ship a rifle through UPS. The gun will be shipped from one gun dealer to another, eliminating the headaches or hassles of a third party.
-
2
Locate a FFL dealer in the recipient's area, and obtain a signed copy---by mail, fax or email---of that dealer's FFL.

3
Pack the rifle in a sturdy box, and cushion it with packing peanuts or bubble wrap. Make sure there is no ammunition in the package and that nothing on the outside of the box indicates that a rifle is inside.
-
4
Visit your nearest FFL gun dealer, and fill out any relevant paper work. An "Adult Signature Required" delivery confirmation is mandatory, and insurance for your package is highly recommended.
-
5
Choose the shipping service you prefer, either UPS Ground or Next Day Air, and then pay the dealer's fees as well as the shipping and handling charges.

Tips & Warnings
Although UPS allows shipment of rifles through UPS Customer Centers, UPS On-Call Pickup and One-Time Pickup, to avoid breaking any laws it's highly recommended to ship through a local FFL dealer.
FFL dealers can be found at GunBroker.com.
Before shipping a rifle, check all federal, state and local laws, as they are subject to frequent changes.
