How to Connect to a Mac Server With a PC
Macs and PCs both offer different computing abilities, making them both assets to a home or work environment. Modern Macs all run on the Intel chip, which makes it easier than ever before to integrate them with PCs. If you want to set up a PC to a Mac network in which you can connect a to a Mac server with a PC it is possible. The only problem is you will only be able to share compatible files with a Mac and PC.

Open System preferences. Choose "Sharing."

Select "Windows File Sharing" and click on "Accounts." Input the names and passwords of the users who can contribute to file sharing with a PC.
In Mac OS X 5.0 and higher select "File Sharing',"then select "SMB Sharing" and choose the accounts with whom the sharing will take place, inputting the passwords when asked.

Close System Preferences.
On the PC

Open "Control Panel" in the Start menu.

Click on "Network and Internet Connections." A new window will open. Click "My Network Places." Click "Add a New Place." The Network Wizard will open. Press "Next."

Select "Choose another Network" and click "Next" again.

Input the Mac server's IP address. Click "Next."

Uncheck the "Log in anonymously" box. Input the Mac user ID you will be logging into the Mac server under. Click "Next," then "Finish." A new window will open.

Input the Mac user log in name and password and press "Log on." Your PC is now connected to a Mac server.

Tips & Warnings
You can connect a PC to a Mac server with a cross cable as well as wirelessly.
Turn Window's file sharing off on the Mac when it is not in use, as Window's file sharing makes the Mac less secure.
