Resetting the HP JetDirect Card in your printer may be difficult to do from the network if you have lost the IP or MAC address for the printer. The IP address settings on the card can be affected or changed by power spikes, hacking or through user error. Without this information, you won’t be able to reset the card using the usual HP Web Jetadmin or Telnet utilities. HP, knowing that these things happen, has provided another method for resetting an HP JetDirect card.
Press and hold the green button on the control panel of your HP printer. Turn the printer off using the "Power" button or by unplugging it.
Turn the printer on while still holding the green button down. The printer’s LCD panel will display the message “Restoring factory settings,” or the lights on the console will blink to indicate that the Jetdirect is resetting.
Print a configuration page or report from the “Reports” menu on your printer to verify that the IP address has been reset.

- You may not have to reset the card if you have simply forgotten the IP address. Print a configuration report.
