How to Speed Up the Touchpad Mouse

As laptops continue to become more portable and affordable, users are utilizing more and more touchpad mouse pointing devices. However, the touchpad on the mouse sometimes runs a little slow on certain computers, meaning the user had to go into the computer and change the speed setting.

  • Go into "System Processes," either by performing a search or by going to your desktop background, right-clicking and going into the Properties folder.

  • Go to "Mouse Settings." Depending on the operating system you are using, this section will be called something like "Mouse Pointers," "Touchpad Settings" or some combination of those.

  • Go to "Pointer Settings" and adjust the speed of the mouse. By speeding up the pointer, when you move your finger against the touchpad, the cursor will move more rapidly against the screen. Alternately, if you want to make the touchpad mouse slower, slow down the pointer.

  • When properly adjusted, click "Apply" and "OK."

  • If the touchpad is still too slow, go back into your "Mouse Settings" and make the pointer speed faster. Continue doing this until you are happy with the speed at which your cursor is moving on your screen in relation to your touchpad mouse.
