Your Lenovo computer came with a hard-drive backup program called ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery. This software takes snapshots of your hard drive, and you can use it to restore files if they get corrupted or accidentally deleted. If you prefer to use a different program or tool for backing up data, you may want to remove Rescue and Recovery from your computer.

Step 1

Right-click the bottom-left corner of the Windows Start screen.

Step 2

Click "Control Panel" and select "Uninstall a Program."

Step 3

Scroll down and select "Rescue and Recovery," then click "Uninstall."

Step 4

Click "Yes" to confirm, then wait a few seconds as your computer uninstalls the program. Restart the computer, if prompted.

Step 5

Press "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" to start the Task Manager. Click the "Services" tab.

Step 6

Look for the services named "TVT Backup Service," "TVT Backup Protection Service" and "Tvtnetwk." If you don't see any of them, Rescue and Recovery was successfully uninstalled. If you do see one or more of these services, the program may not have been removed properly. Try running the uninstaller again.
