      Next, replace the oil plug and tighten very snugly. Also, install the new oil filter and tighten the oil filter hand tight and then one more round with a oil filter wrench. Once everything is tight, add the new motor oil and crank the car and let it run for 30 seconds. Re-check the oil and add more oil if necessary.

      Next, take the oil catch pan full of used motor oil and pour the used oil into plastic jugs or a five gallon bucket. Once the jugs or bucket is full of the used motor oil, put the lids on them and tighten them very tight.

      Lastly, put a strip of plastic in the trunk of your car and securely place the oil jugs or the five gallon bucket full of the used motor oil into the trunk. Now take the used motor oil to your local oil change center or car repair center. These places will generally take your used motor oil and they will recycle the used motor oil.
