How to Connect a Satellite to a TV Without an RF Coaxial
If you are connecting your satellite receiver to a television set you typically are going to use an RF (radio frequency) coaxial cable. Coaxial cables, while easy to install, provide inferior video and audio quality. You may want to try the following alternative method of installing your satellite receiver.
Instructions

-
1
Connect the cable running from the satellite dish to the "In" port of your satellite receiver.
-
2
Look at the back of your satellite receiver. Next to the "Video-Out" ports look to see if there is a separate or S-video port. This port is going to be circular with several different pin holes. If there is a separate port, and your television supports S video you may want to use this connection. It provides superior video quality to the standard yellow Radio Corporation of America (RCA) video cable.
The S video is superior to other video connections (such as RCA) because unlike the video RCA or coaxial cables, the video is not carried down a single cable. In fact, the color, brightness and contrast information is carried by different small cables within the S-video cable (this is why different pin holes are used in the cable connector).

Connect the S-video cable into the "Video-Out" port of the satellite receiver. Plug the other end of the cable into the S-video connection of the "Video-In" port on the back of the television.

4
Insert the red and white RCA cables into the "Audio-Out" port, located directly next to the video-out port you used. Plug the other end of the RCA cables into the "Audio-In" port on the television.
-
5
Power on the television and the cable receiver. Press the "Video" button on the television to begin receiving from the satellite receiver.
