Obtain a DUNS number. A DUNS number, offered by Dun & Bradstreet, is sometimes required to build a credit profile for your business. It's optional for some businesses to report to Dun & Bradstreet, but your Dun & Bradstreet credit profile is the most common business credit report. You can apply for a DUNS number on Dun & Bradstreet's website (http://www.dnb.com); you should have the number within 30 days.

Contact the businesses that you currently have credit with to find out where they report your company's timely payments, if at all. Dun & Bradstreet and Experian are widely used bureaus for business credit reports. Equifax has business credit reports as well. Contacting the creditors that your business is currently working with will allow you to find out which business credit reports you need to access.

Purchase your Paydex Score and credit report. Your Paydex Score is based on your timely payment of business debt. Anything over an 80 is good. If your business is listed on Dun & Bradstreet's website, you can find out what your Paydex Score is.
