How to Download in HD On YouTube

YouTube videos play from the website and not on your computer. In order to get a YouTube video on your computer, you'll have to use a program to download it. If the YouTube video you want to download has a high definition or "HD" option, then you can use a downloader program to download in HD as long as you use the right one.

1. Find a YouTube video that has the "HD" button available beneath the video. That's how you know this video can be watched in high definition. Highlight the website address at the top of the screen. Right-click on it and select "Copy."

2. Download a program that can capture your YouTube video in HD. An free-trial before puchase program is YouTube Music Downloader. A free program is Youtube Grabber.

3. Download the installation file by clicking on the "Download Now" text on the main webpage for a program like YouTube Music Downloader. Open the installation file to install the program.

4. Click on the big green plus symbol button at the top of the program screen that reads "Add." Right-click on the box that says "Copy and Paste URL here." Select "paste." Your YouTube video address should appear in the box.

5. Click on the dropdown menu under "Auto Convert to" and select "HD MP4 format." Click "Download" to download your HD YouTube video.
