How to Build Your Own Amusement Park Carnival Games
Amusement park carnival games are one of the three main aspects that make up any amusement park, big or small. Amusement parks and carnivals usually have rides, games and food. The rides are usually wild, the food is usually fattening and the games are usually skill-based. These silly little games are fun for children or adults and give people a chance to win amusing prizes. To build your own goldfish toss carnival game, you're going to need some glass fish bowls, ping pong balls and a child's plastic swimming pool.
Things You'll Need
- Plastic children's swimming pool
- 12 large glass fish bowls
- Ping pong balls
- 12 small plastic fish
- Tape
- Plastic fish prize items

1
Place the empty swimming pool on a flat surface. Use a hard plastic swimming pool shell, not a soft plastic shell that requires water for the sides to stand.
-
2
Fill the fish bowls two-thirds full with water. Arrange the fish bowls inside the swimming pool, leaving just enough room between the rims of the bowls for a ping pong ball to fit. Check that the bowls are not so far apart that the ball will slip to the bottom of the pool and become difficult to retrieve.

Take the small, plastic fish and drop one into each fishbowl to indicate the prize type for the carnival game. For example, if the player gets a ball into a bowl with a plastic goldfish, they get a small prize. If they get a ball in a bowl with a plastic trout, they get a medium prize. If they get multiple balls in any bowls, they get a big prize.

4
Place a colorful piece of tape to mark the throwing spot for adults and another to mark the throwing spot for children.
-
5
Give a carnival game player three to five ping pong balls. Have the player stand at the appropriate throw line and try to toss the ping pong balls into a fish bowl for a prize, such as a fish keychain or fish barrette.

Tips & Warnings
There are many different ways you can do a basic ball-toss carnival game. If you don't want to use fish bowls and ping pong balls, try setting up some heavy pots that people can bounce tennis balls into. You can also set up some cans or plastic bottles on a table and let people try to knock them down with a softball.
Do not use live goldfish for a prize on the goldfish toss carnival game. Keeping the live fish in the little prize baggies weakens the fish and they almost always die. Stick with harmless and lasting prizes, such as stuffed animals, key chains, hair bows and mini toys.
