How to Stop Coloring Grey Hair

1
Cover the roots with a wide headband during the first few months. This will conceal the grey roots around your face and make the transition undetectable.
-
2
Switch to hair scarves once the grey roots become over 2 inches long. Tie a hair scarf tightly around your entire hair. Tie the scarf behind an ear or under your hair at the nape of your neck.

Consider cutting the rest of your hair as short as you can tolerate. This will lessen the difference between the grey and your unnatural color and make the final transition faster because you will be cutting off as much of the dyed hair as possible.

Use a semi-permanent hair color on your hair that will wash out in approximately ten shampoos. Choose a semi-permanent color that is either similar to your colored hair or a platinum color that would be more similar to a natural grey color. You will have to recolor your hair with the semi-permanent hair color two to three times per month.
