How to Donate Old Door Knobs

After you've finished replacing the door knobs in your home, what do you plan on doing with the old door knobs? Many people may just throw them away without realizing that they can actually be donated. Habitat for Humanity will take used hardware, including door knobs, as donations. Your donated items will either be sold in a Habitat ReStore or used in the building of a Habitat home.

How to Donate Old Door Knobs

1. Wipe down the door knob and place it in a sealed storage bag, making sure to include all of the hardware.

2. Contact your local Habitat for Humanity. Let the representative know that you would like to donate your door knobs to a Habitat ReStore in your state. They will then provide you with mailing instructions or driving directions.

3. Look around your home and garage for any other building materials or hardware you would be willing to donate. Habitat for Humanity is in constant need of these items. Your donations allow them to continue to build homes for families in need.
