How to Adjust the Beater Height on a KitchenAid Mixer

A KitchenAid mixer is a top-quality standing mixer used by many professional chefs and also by those who are serious about their cooking. The mixer has many different mixing attachments, some of which include the flat beater, the mosquito beater and the egg beater. At times it may be necessary to adjust the beater height on a KitchenAid mixer so that the beater doesn't scrape against and ruin the bowl.

Things You'll Need

• Flat beater attachment
• Screwdriver

Instructions

1. Raise the head of the mixer so that you can see the underside of it, where the beater attachment fits. Unplug the mixer before you start to avoid any potential accidents.

2. Attach the flat beater into the KitchenAid mixer. If the height is correct for this beater, it should also be correct for most other beater attachments.

3. Locate the screw under the head of the KitchenAid mixer, near the beater attachment. Raise the beater height by turning the screw ¼ of a turn to the left, or counter-clockwise. Lower the beater height by turning the screw ¼ of a turn to the right, or clockwise. Keep adjusting the screw until the beater height is at an acceptable level. Adjust the screw no more than ¼ of a turn at a time.
