A freshly cleaned car looks beautiful, is eye-catching and makes the owner feel proud. If the car has been cleaned on a hot day or hasn't been properly dried, water stains may appear on the paint. While the car may look clean from a distance, upon closer review, lots of water stains are noticeable, making the car appear dirty again. To remove water stains from car paint, use a few common items that can be purchased from most auto supply stores.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Park your car in the shade if the sun is intense. The sun will cause your car to dry quickly, preventing you from properly removing the water stains from the paint.

  2. Step 2

Rinse your car down by spraying it with a hose. Do not dry. You'll want the car wet when you apply the soap to it.

  3. Step 3

Add a few drops of liquid dish detergent into a bucket of warm water.

  4. Step 4

Scrub your car using a car-wash brush, dish detergent and water. Work your way from the top of the car to the bottom. This will allow you to properly clean the bottom of your car after all the soap and water has dripped from the top.

  5. Step 5

Hose down your car to remove the soap.

  6. Step 6

Dry your car immediately after you have hosed it down. Use the chamois and work your way around the car ringing out the chamois frequently. Start with the top of the car (roof, hood and trunk) and work your way down to the sides. The top of your car has had the longest time to dry and should be dried first.

  7. Step 7

Wax the car. Waxing will create a protective layer on top of the paint, reducing future water stains.
