How to Check the Oil Level in a Ford Laser

The oil in a Ford Laser should be consistently monitored. The high-revving motor can cause the oil to become burnt. Checking the oil in the Laser is the same as checking the oil level in most automobiles. The level can be read through checking the engine oil dipstick. Keeping your oil level in the safe zone and changing it regularly increase the life of your car.

Instructions

  1. Checking Oil Level in Ford Laser

    • 1

Ensure car is parked on a flat surface. An incline will give you an incorrect reading.

    • 2

Open the hood to access the engine compartment. The latch is under the steering wheel.

    • 3

Locate the engine oil dipstick. You will find it just behind the crankcase. In most cases the dipstick will be labeled on its handle.

    • 4

Pull the dipstick out of the tube and wipe it with a clean rag. Make sure all oil is off the dipstick.

    • 5

Insert dipstick in the tube and push it down until it stops. Allow it to sit for a few seconds.

    • 6

Pull the dipstick back up and inspect the level on it. Keep the dipstick straight. Tilting the dipstick will make the oil run and give an incorrect reading. The dipstick is marked with either lines or holes. If the oil stops between the lines or holes, then the level is fine. If it drops below, then it will be time to add more oil.

    • 7

Fill oil as needed. Pour oil into the crankshaft at half-quart intervals. Check the oil level each time until you reach the full mark on the dipstick.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check the oil level no sooner than five minutes after running your vehicle. This will give the oil time to fall back into the oil pan.

  • Do not overfill oil. This can cause premature engine problems.
