Many dogs suffer anxiety attacks caused from loud noises such as thunderstorm or fireworks. Some dogs have stress related attacks from riding in the car, a visit to Veterinarians office and many dogs suffer anxiety when left home alone. If you observe your dogs barking loudly, dancing on all four paws, shaking and heart racing then your dog is suffering from an anxiety attack. My border collie suffered from severe anxiety until I discovered this natural herbal remedy to calm his nerves. Here are some tips on how to calm dogs with peppermint remedy

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Food grade peppermint oil
  • Cup
  1. Step 1

Purchase from the grocery store food grade 100 % peppermint oil. Look for it in the baking aisle.

  2. Step 2

Pour twenty drops of the peppermint oil into a cup. I found that it is easier to have the oil in cup rather than shaking the oil out of the bottle.

  3. Step 3

Sit down on the floor with your dog and give them some loving. Pet your dog and talk to them. You want to comfort your dog so that they relate to the peppermint oil as pleasure.

  4. Step 4

Scoop up the oil into your hand. Use one hand to pet your dog and the other hand to rub the oil into the bottom of your dog’s paws. Work the oil into the paws up, around, and in between too. Rub the oil until it is absorbed. Do this procedure for all four paws.

  5. Step 5

Reapply the peppermint oil as needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Apply the oil before an anxious situation.
  • Do not use peppermint essential oil on your dog’s paws. Essential peppermint oil is for aromatherapy or massage. Thus since dogs lick their paws the essential oil would be harmful. Remember if you cannot cook with the peppermint oil then you cannot use it on your dog’s paws.
