Things You'll Need:
- Food grade peppermint oil
- Cup
-
Step 1
Purchase from the grocery store food grade 100 % peppermint oil. Look for it in the baking aisle.
-
Step 2
Pour twenty drops of the peppermint oil into a cup. I found that it is easier to have the oil in cup rather than shaking the oil out of the bottle.
-
Step 3
Sit down on the floor with your dog and give them some loving. Pet your dog and talk to them. You want to comfort your dog so that they relate to the peppermint oil as pleasure.
-
Step 4
Scoop up the oil into your hand. Use one hand to pet your dog and the other hand to rub the oil into the bottom of your dog’s paws. Work the oil into the paws up, around, and in between too. Rub the oil until it is absorbed. Do this procedure for all four paws.
-
Step 5
Reapply the peppermint oil as needed.

on 11/3/2009 As a pet behaviorist, let me say this is a great tip! Just connect the oil with positive things and the dog will calm himself if upset.
