How to Walk to the Hollywood Sign
The Hollywood sign is located in northeast Los Angeles and sits on top of a mountain overlooking the entire city. Right at 1,675 feet in elevation, the sign stands 50 feet high and 450 feet in length. A short drive into Hollywood and about a 2-mile hike, will allow you to get up to the top of the mountain and behind the sign itself.

The start of the dirt trail is located at the end of N. Beachwood Dr. in Hollywood, CA. Take N. Beachwood Dr (from the cross streets; Beachwood Dr and Franklin Ave) about 3 miles up hill towards the Hollywood sign. You will see the Hollywood sign as you drive up Beachwood Dr. Keep following Beachwood to the top until the end where the road turns into dirt. Continue on the dirt road for about 200 yards until you see a small parking area on your right, you should see other cars parked there.

Park in the dirt parking area and take the dirt trail leading up the hill. You should see the trail pretty easily because it is visible and there is a lot of foot traffic on it. You may see other people walking on the trail also. From the start of this trail, it is probably a 45 minute hike to the Hollywood sign. There are no markings or signs on the trail, so you sortof have to use your own judgment for directions. Just make sure to follow the trail where it looks like everyone is walking (do not stray off onto other less traveled paths.) There might be people on horseback and also other hikers that you can ask directions. At one point on the trail there is a paved section where you actually walk on a paved road. You will wind around the peak of the mountain then finally towards the top come out right next to the Hollywood sign.
